Henry Summerstone wanted me to find a missing person.
There were a few drawbacks.
He didn't know her name.  He had absolutely no idea what she looked like.  He didn't know where she lived or worked......

Henry is offering hard cash to find Miss X, something that Grace always finds it hard to refuse.   Negotiating a tricky path between grudge match Karaoke contests, being given the run-around by a second client who is fourteen going on twenty five, and stopping her best friend from finding out her flat's been over-run by squatters,  Grace finds herself caught up government fraud, family feuds and cold blooded murder.

Finding out who killed Marilyn Monroe nearly got me killed as well....

Marilyn Monroe has been murdered.  And tough irrepressible PI Grace Smith is hired to track down the killer.   Visions of all-expenses paid trips to California dance before Grace's eyes....unfortunately Marilyn turns out to be a beach donkey and Grace is too broke to turn down the case.

During the investigation Grace finds herself increasingly drawn into the mystery surrounding the death of a young prostitute - who died on the same night as Marilyn.   Pitting her wits against a deranged criminal mind while trying to keep one step ahead of the police (who tend to dislike her even more than the owners' of deranged criminal minds do!), Grace ends up in far more trouble than she ever bargained for as she uncovers an extraordinary tale of greed and betrayal

Witty dialogue and spirited pace make this an enjoyable start to what I hope will be a series of Grace Smith investigations (Sunday Telegraph)
